Description psarmstr 2010-08-05 19:53:47 UTC
There are way too many places to change measurements.

There should be a single place where I can set the master measurement system and have sensible defaults
cascade (e.g. 10 mm grid resolution) through the whole suite.

Went to a mail address I rarely check after 4 years...

Rather than having measurements set at the OpenOffice.org General level in the configuration, each module has it's own separate idea of which measurement system to use (and the default is inches, instead of the far more common and useful millimeters).

As an example, Writer has it in not one, but two places: Writer->General and Writer/Web->View and then, if I switch to Calc, I have to set it again in the general settings there.

Measurements should be set at the top level and all modules should use that (some users may want to override, but that's going to be an edge case).

To add insult to injury, OpenOffice also forgets these settings when upgrading so they have to be re-set each time.
