Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11399
Comma Delimeted Files Refuse to preserve Numeric Formatting
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:43 UTC
Normally when Excel or Gnumeric export to a csv file, using "" to denote text, they preserve numerical formatting such as commas and dollar signs using quotes to allow the commas to be included as a text field within the comma delimeted field structure. OpenOffice Calc does not preserve the formatting. I use csv files to create PDF files using PHP scripts... when the data comes in unformated I have to parse it out... a much more simple process if the numerical data is converted to text using quoted fields. I use the quote option on export... but I haven't been able to truly reproduce the file format excel and gnumeric give me. jh ex: Excel/Gnumeric exported to csv: 123 ,"text,here","$1,900" ,0 OpenOffice exported to csv: 123 ,texthere , 1900 ,0
Of note: This formatting is not typed in... rather it is applied under cell format, number, currency. Nearly the same way currency formatting is applied in excell.

Hi, for now the CSV Filter does not preserve the formats for currencys. So this one is an enhancement and will be handled by Bettina. I re-assign this Issue to her. Frank
Comma is correctly exported in text fields at least in locale fr_FR in OOo 2.3. "text, here" is correctly exported with quotes.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
