Description White Phoenix 2010-08-20 15:36:36 UTC
I use Calc with the status bar turned off. Lately, when I click on a tab to move
to it the spreadsheet will move up as if to make room for the status bar. More
recently, the status bar has actually come up. This is very annoying. When only
the space is made, I have to click on View>Status Bar to make the status bar
appear. Then click it off to have everything go back into place.

When the status bar appears, I keep having to turn it off. As far as I know
there is nothing near the tabs that I could be accidentally clicking to cause
the status bar to come on, or the spreadsheet to move as if to make room for it.
If there is, it should be removed or have an option to turn it off.

Status bar reappears by simply dragging a column in a sheet.

Version has been updated in error, so back to "3.3 or more early"

Neither understand original report nor reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Beta – English UI / German locale - [AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1577236 2014-03-15]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile:

1. From AOO Start center open new empty Calc document
2. Menu 'View -> Status Bar': Click to make invisible if necessary
   > Status Bar disappears below Sheet TABs
3. Click several sheet Tabs
Due to report Status bar should reappear, but it does not
4. In Sheet1, Click column header "C" to select all column
5. Click on C1 and Drag and Drop to E1
Due to Comment 1 Status bar should appear, but it does not.

@White Phoenix
What means "click on a tab"? Sheet Tabs to switch from 1 sheet to an other?
Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld 2014-03-18 06:55:26 UTC
Ah, I think I've got it. Steps how to reproduce with sever installation of "OOo 3.2.1 English UI / German locale [OOO320m18 (Build 9502)]" on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) DE:

11. From AOO Start center open new empty Calc document
12. Menu 'View -> Status Bar': Click to make invisible
   > Status Bar disappears below Sheet TABs
13. Click on Sheet1-TAB -> drag & drop it between Sheet2-TAB and Sheet3-TAB
   Bug: Status Bar reappears :-)

Additional Info:
(a) Situation is a little different if you document opens without Status bar
    in Step 11.
(a1) To reach that situation you have to disable Status bar in
document, terminate Calc. Now when you open a blank new Calc document
it will not show a Status bar
(a2) If you now Proceed steps 11, then step 13 something like a placeholder
for Status bar appears (as reported).
(b) Edwin's observations might be a DUP of Bug 115770, I will check that later.
(c) we have a very general "Bug 62456 - Calc statusbar does not stay hidden",
    this one might be related

(d) Still Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Beta – English UI
    / German locale - [AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1577236 2014-03-15]"
on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile.
(e) Also a problem with LibO 4.2
(f) All details also reproducible with LibO 3.5.7.2 on VM / Ubuntu 12.
    So OS to ALL
Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld 2014-03-18 07:12:02 UTC
for the sake of completeness:
(g) was not a problem with OOo 1.1.5
(h) already reproducible with OOo 2.0.2
Comment 6 White Phoenix 2014-03-18 14:34:45 UTC
I now use AOO 4.01 for Linux. I have this problem on that platform also. Something else that I noticed that may help fix the problem. After the AutoRecovery does a scan, the bottom of the spreadsheet returns to its normal position. At least until the next time I move a sheet using the tab.
