Description geoff_hartley 2010-09-04 14:06:43 UTC
Setup of printer in "Printer setup" is not configured across into printer
properties under "Print" or stored.
Comment 1 eric.savary 2010-09-04 14:45:13 UTC
Is that possible to get a little bit more details about what you mean?
Comment 2 geoff_hartley 2010-09-04 19:54:49 UTC
The configuration of a printer using the path:file/printer settings is not
pre-configured into the properties page of the print setup page.

So when it comes to printing the printer options & properties have to re-entered
again before printing. Even then one has to be careful that any selections in
the 'options' page are entered last otherwise they are lost while changing any
properties.

This happens when attempting to print a multipage brochure on A4 paper to a
Konica Minolta 210 or HP 1020 printer.

This problem also ocurrs if the file is printed, saved & closed. On opening the
document the last printer configuration have been overwritten by the default
printer conditions.

This is is not how 3.2 works, is particularly irritating & wastes paper.

Further the document viewer in the print page is sometimes incorrect when
printing >8 page brochures. The pages are incorrectly sequenced & even missing
although the document prints correctly.

@geoff_hartley: Please be so kind and give us a step by step description to
evaluate this.

Configure the printer setup for an A5 portrait formatted multipage document to
be printd on A4 paper as a brochure as follows:

>select file/print settings.
>click options & select brochure.
>click properties & setup KM Biz Hub printer for "short side" duplex printing on
lanscape or HP 1020 printer for both side lanscape printing.
>click OK to accept setup & click OK to exit printer setup.

Now when it comes to printing:
>click file then print (the printer model & brochure option are correctly
configured).
>click properties (the 'both side' or 'duplex' settings are not retained).

In this mode of operation the print settings option seems to have become largely
redundant since all the settings are not carried over into the print dialog.

Ok, also reproducible with 330m8.
Summary changed from "Printing setup"
Workaround: Do all settings at the print dialog
Comment 7 mdxonefour 2011-02-06 12:00:51 UTC
md->hi: The workaround you propose is not working (at least for me in 3.3 final)

md->all: This is a regression compared to OOo 3.2 release.
adding keyword "regression"

From my point this is a severe issue. So adjusting prio to "2".

This is not a Writer only issue. So I adjust the "Component" field from "writer"
to "framework".

removing keyword "needmoreinfo"

Running OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 on Windows 7. The printer settings worked fine until I downloaded the latest updates for OpenOffice and then the problems started. The printer setting dialog box keeps reverting to the default settings for the printer itself, ignoring the overriding settings that have been entered for the document. The settings have to be entered again each time a new print job is sent to the printer.

Comment 14 philipp.lohmann 2011-03-07 17:18:07 UTC
as discussed change: each document remembers the printer it was last printed on now instead of the last printer any document was printed on.

fixed in CWS vcl120
