Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 115836
crash when activating MS Paintbrusch object on Unix
Last modified: 2011-01-24 14:37:08 UTC
I have an graphic as object, copied from an .doc file Paste in new Writer document double click > crash When opening context menu of the object and choosing Object, there is no crash. I can send the file with the object via mail - may not attach the file to the issue.
crash report ID (from 330rc7, or 300m93 ?) = r7c7tbn
Take the attached document, try to activate the Bitmap (Paintbrush) object -> will work fine, but crashes on Unix systems.
Created attachment 75178 [details] Document having a simple paintbrush object
Adjusting the target.
thanks for creating the paintbrush document, for confirming the issue.
The crash is fixed now. There are still problems with type-detection, that do not allow to open the object correctly ( it is opened as the text document ). Actually this is no real bug, since this kind of activation is special. It is the case when MS-OLE object is embedded and there is no server to open the object, in this case we try to allow to see the object in OOo somehow if possible. It is always guessing and some unknown formats are detected as text documents, as it happens in this case. If you would like to be able to view such objects, please submit a standalone issue with low priority to me. If I have time, I could try to find a workaround then.
hi Mikhail, I think fixing the crash is great. Bug solved IMO. Thanks. I have no diffculty with the situation that not every object on each OS etc is automatically opened for editing. So no new issue from me for that.
mav->mru: Please verify the issue.
Verified fix in CWS fwk162.
