Description natrix 2010-12-09 17:45:26 UTC
If I save an OpenOffice Impress-presentation with OO 3.3 RC7 as MS Powerpoint
file, I can't open it with MS Powerpoint 2003 oder 2007. Working with OO Impress
3.2.1 it is possible to save the same presentation as powerpoint file and to
open it with MS PP 2003 (which is necessary if you're going with your
presentation to most conferences). By the way, MS PP 2007 will also reject the
powerpoint files weritten with OO 3.2.1.

Sorry, not reproducible. Please attach such a file. Saving an odp file as ppt
shows no problem opening the file in in PPT 2003 or 2007 (used version OOO330_m17).

I’m using Open Office version 3.4.0 and Microsoft XP. I was NOT able to reproduce the bug. I have verified few different scenarios. See below:

First scenario:
After Open Office, I clicked on “Presentation” button. I select default settings:
Presentation: Empty
Presentation Backgrounds: Original
Output medium: Screen
Effect: No effect
Speed: Medium
Presentation type: Default
After I change “Title” to “QA test” and “Add text” to “QA test” on my slide, I click File/Save As, select PPT drop down and then click “Save”. After closing the file, I was able to open it in MS power point.

Second Scenario:
Presentation: Form template – Introducing a new product
Presentation Backgrounds: Blue Lines and Gradients
Output medium: Original
Effect: Wipe Up
Speed: Fast
Presentation type: Automatic – Duration of page – 00:00:10
After I change “Title” to “QA test” and “Add text” to “QA test” on my slide, I click File/Save As, select PPT drop down and then click “Save”. After closing the file, I was able to open it in MS power point.

Third Scenario:
Same settings at first scenario (default settings), first it was saved as ODP file. After close and reopen ODP file, it was save as PPT file. Later it was opened successfully via Microsoft Power Point.

I have attached power point files as reference.

Running OOo-dev 3.4.0 (OOO340m0 Build 9583)
Windows 7 64-Bit

I was unable to reproduce this issue.

My steps in attempt to reproduce this issue are similar to tomng777's, except done all in line.

1. Open Impress
2. Choose "Empty Presentation", click Create
3. Enter title and slide text.
4. Save as .odp file.
5. Close Impress
6. Re-open Impress
7. Open file saved as .odp, verify content is correct
8. Save as .ppt
9. Close Impress
10. Re-open Impress
11. Open file saved as .ppt, verify content is correct
12. Close Impress
13. Open MS PowerPoint 2003 SP3
14. Open file saved as .ppt, verify content is correct
15. Close PowerPoint

I will also attach the two files I used. (The .odp, and the converted .ppt)

Source .odp file for my replication steps.

This is a simple, 1-slide presentation used to verify creation and export to .ppt format.

Exported .ppt from odp_source.odp, also attached

This is the exported .ppt format of the odp_source.odp file used to show that ppt export from Impress seems to work as intended.
