Description demongolem 2011-01-22 17:22:17 UTC
The second argument of the RANK function is a numberlist. Whereas in other
portions of Calc you can do a control-shift to select non-contiguous items, this
feature does not apply to numberlists. It would be very useful to select
non-contiguous lists for the RANK function. I do not consider copy and pasting
in some spare area or new sheet of my spreadsheet to be an acceptable solution
all the time.

The second parameter of the RANK function is a NumberSequenceList (as in a lot
of other functions). Such list will be converted from a ReferenceList. A
ReferenceList is build from references which are concatenated with the Operator ~.
For example for getting the RANK of 7 in the numbers in A1:B3 and C7:C10 you can use

Do you request, that when using Ctrl plus mouse drag, the operator ~ is inserted
automatically? Or what behavior do you request? Please be aware, that the syntax
of functions is bound to the ODF specification.

Yes, I was unaware of the ~ operator in OO3. That helps me some. I think it
would be easier to mouse click to select the required cells. So I request a
control/mouse click combination in this situation.
