Description silverbeat 2011-05-29 11:05:08 UTC
- Overview:
When opening the save-as-dialog and navigating to a folder which contains Finder aliases to network resources, OOo forces Finder to resolve all aliases and thus trying to connect to all of them. When some resources are currently unavailable, OOo freezes and error messages pop up.

- Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a local folder containing multiple Finder aliases to network resources, such as WebDAV, FTP or SMB shares.
2. In OOo, open the save-as-dialog and navigate to that folder.

- Actual results:
OOo freezes while Finder tries to resolve all aliases in that folder. For unavailable resources, error messages pop up.

- Expected results:
Aliases should only be resolved when clicking on them. (Other OS X-Applications also do it that way.)

getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity".
For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.

This is true for the normal save dialog as well, when first attempting to save a new document.

This is still happening and is a severe problem. I don't know of another app that has this problem. I just had to force-quit OOo.

Hi,

This has been around for years, and is very annoying.

Can someone please deal with it already?

Thanks

I confirm this bug is still present in 4.1.1

If the network drives the aliases are pointing to are not reachable, whether the remote computer is not online or when WifI/ethernet is disabled, it causes OO to loop over a dialog box with only a OK button, saying that the distant drives are not online.

The only way out of that is to force quit the program.

If the aliases are on the desktop, this makes saving a document to the desktop impossible.
