Description akelsall 2011-05-30 16:41:53 UTC
Autocorrect does not allow the ability to have both an upper and lower case version of the same word (e.g. I can't tell it to replace prot with protocol,
and also tell it to replace Prot with Protocol).

1. Go to Tools | Autocorrect options...

2. Click on the Replace tab (if not already active).

2. In the Replace field, enter prot. In the With field, enter Protocol.

3. Click New to add this entry.

4. Go back to the Replace and enter and start typing "Prot" (without quotes.
Notice the captialized P). The minute you enter the "t", it changes the P back
to lowercase p. The only way to tell autocorrect to change Prot to Protocol is
to delete the entry for prot.

This is a bit of an annoyance (especially considering Microsoft Word allows both uppper and lowercase versions of the same word to be autocorrected). Let's not let Microsoft outod OOo. This is a great application suite and I use OOo Writer exclusively. I'm impressed what the developers are doing. Keep up the great work!

Thanks,

Andy

Step 4 should read:

4. Go back to the Replace field and start typing "Prot" (without quotes.
Notice the captialized P). The minute you enter the letter "t", it changes the
capital P back to lowercase p. The only way to tell autocorrect to change Prot
to Protocol is to delete the entry for prot.
