Description gaffe_1 2011-08-25 17:52:42 UTC
Problem:
When trying to open the attached file, OpenOffice.org in most cases crashes with an error message. In one case I managed to open the file without OOo crashing. In that case, the file was rendered incompletely and with wrong formatting.

How to reproduce:
Open attached file in OOo writer

Additional info:
I have tried the file with OOo 3.2.1 on Debian, and 3.2.0 on Ubuntu. When opening the file, OOo either crashes with an error message (crashing after error) or hangs. With 3.2.0 on Ubuntu, I was able to open it once (the first time). Instead of paragraphs of black text, the formatting was violet letters with overstrike, with all text run together into one continuous text block.

The file is, to the best of my knowledge, created in an old version of Microsoft Word.

getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity".
For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.
Comment 3 Edwin Sharp 2013-01-25 11:15:25 UTC
When opening the file "document in use" dialog appears.
Selecting "open read-only" causes AOO to freeze.
Checked with Rev. 1400866 on Win 7 64.

PS I get "The file appears to be corrupted" with Word 2010.

Confirming repeatable crash, raising importance (even though elish's remarks about Word 2010 considering this a corrupted file might mean that the correct behavior is simply to report it as broken instead of freezing/crashing on it).

For what is worth, opening with a standard text editor shows text in Danish and meta-information.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
