Repro steps:
1. New speadsheet
2. input Value 1 into cell A1， value2 into cell B1
3. Copy cell A1 and Cell B1 into column A and column B.
4. Select column A and column B, click merge button

Result: Cale freeze after 10+ mins it still no response.

I can see already a not responding Calc for ~2 min. when inserting the values in the >2 millions of cells. And of course when merging the cells.

Do you copy whole column and do merge? If so, it is uncommon sceanrio and may defere from AOO 3.4.
