The file "soffice.bin" incorporates a lot of icons, in which the "AOO-3.4.0_Win_x86" does not need. All icons are seven pages that are not needed. This is a bug that makes the file very large and increases the time the program starts.

patch (easy hacking)

I propose to use this new file (Easy hacking). He has the size of 71 kB, and was 9.8 MB. The program runs for 4 seconds (reduced by 3.5 seconds) on a PC Asus Eee PC 1015. This way I use the 2-year (OOo-3.1 - AOO-3.4). Change the code is not necessary. Attachment contains a new file, icons, and PNG images that will be needed to compile a new version of the file in the future date.

I'm adding this comment to all open issues with Issue Type == PATCH.  We have 220 such issues, many of them quite old.  I apologize for that.  

We need your help in prioritizing which patches should be integrated into our next release, Apache OpenOffice 4.0.

If you have submitted a patch and think it is applicable for AOO 4.0, please respond with a comment to let us know.

On the other hand, if the patch is no longer relevant, please let us know that as well.

1. Problem was preserved in “AOO-3.4.1”. This patch can be used.
2. At present I use the additional library of icons for The Windows Explorer, which does not load when AOO is starting. This made it possible to reduce the number of icons in the file “soffice.exe” to one icon and decreased its weight to 100 KB.

We need a review for this patch for AOO 4.0.
