Description louqle 2012-04-20 05:41:38 UTC
build: r1325589
platform: Suse 11

1. Install oo3.3 English package, by default the English, French and Spniash dictionaris are installed.
2. Upgrade to oo3.4. Due to bug 119162, I removed the ooobasis3.3 packages after upgrade finish.
3. Launch openoffice, Click Tools->Extension Manager, I can see the re-installed English dictionaries. But no French or Spanish.
4. New a document and enter some text, then press F7

French and Spanish remains in the Text lanugage list.

5. Close the dialog, then typing some misspelled French words and some correct French words, select all, change language to French(France) via Format Character dialog.

All words are marked including the correct ones.
context menu: no proposals, but only "Ignore" and "Ignore all"

6. Press F7, select French(France) from the text language list, no suggestions in the list box.

You should also remove

openoffice.org3-dict-en
openoffice.org3-dict-es
openoffice.org3-dict-fr

Yes, I have removed the three dic packages with ooobasis3.3 packages, they are depending on ooobasis3.3-core01 and must be removed before ooobasis3.3-core01

THe bug can have different reasons:

a) Removing the packages does not remove everything:
after removing and before installing, can you check if there are some folder/files left on /opt/openoffice.org3 ?

b) Issue with the user profile:
did you try with an existing user profile or a new one?
You can force AOO to use a new user profile when launching AOO from the command line:

/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice -env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/aoo-test

This way you can test without removing the existing user profile (default location $HOME/.openoffice.org/3/user).

Performed a clean install of OpenOffice.org 3.3 en-US.

Removed *every* OpenOffice.org 3.3. Command on Fedora:

~]$ sudo yum erase ooobasis3.3-* openoffice.org-ure openoffice.org3.3-redhat-menus

This leaves an empty folder /opt/openoffice.org3/share/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages

Install AOO 3.4.0 revision 1327774 : in the extension manager I can see all dictionaries found in /opt/openoffice.org3/share/extensions
and cannot reproduce this bug.

Question: After removing ooobasis3.3, are there any packages are left?

We are talking about different scenarios:

What I said is "Upgrade", and your scenario is "clean install"..

Upgrade means keep the old version unremoved, install the newer version directly. I expect the old resources will be replaced by the newer ones "automatically", and at the same time, keep user settings untouched. For example, recent file list, colors, icon set and so on. Just lik I'm running Suse 11, and there is a new version, e.g. Suse 12, I don't have to format the platform then install Suse 12. Just do "Upgrade" is OK. By doing this, my own settings, software, even the desktop picture will keep unchanged.

Clean install means remove the old version then install the newer version.

So, in step 2 I "upgrade" from oo3.3 to oo3.4, of course, keep user profile there.

as far as you remove the ooobasis packages, this is not an update

Notice that in comment 4 I report I only removed the packages, not the user installation:

~]$ sudo yum erase ooobasis3.3-* openoffice.org-ure openoffice.org3.3-redhat-menus

a) ooobasis3.3-*
b) openoffice.org-ure
c) openoffice.org3.3-redhat-menus

An upgrade is not possible in Linux, because packages in (a) have to be removed, otherwise AOO cannot be launched; and package (c) has to be removed otherwise you cannot install the desktop-integration that comes with AOO 3.4.0
Keeping package (c) may not have any impact on this issue. With package (b) I can't tell, though we should advice the user to remove it.

In short, removing that packages and keeping the user installation, I cannot reproduce this bug.
