Description erikt 2012-08-02 08:50:51 UTC
I have frames that contain pictures (linked tif-files). If I reduce the size of the picture the frame height is reduced as well, but below the frame there is an open space left. Text following the frame is left in the position where it was before the re-size of the frame.

When I close and reopen the document the open space is gone and text is positioned correctly.

I cannot reproduce it.

Please describe the anchor and wrap properties of your frame.

I anchor the frames "as character" and wrap settings "none".

I have seen the behaviour also with other frames. Also frames that just contain text showed this problem.

The document is over 600 pages with at least 250 frames. Could it be that the phenomenon is just a delay in repagination?

The frame is the only object in a paragraph?

Then I can reproduce it. I have seen the problem too in LibreOffice. (But their Bugzilla is not available in this moment and therefore I cannot give you a link.)

A workaround is, to put a blank after or in front of the frame (or picture, or formula).

The problem is not connected to the size of the document. I can reproduce it with AOO 3.4.1 on a small, one page document.

The frame is the only element in the frame. The text above it ends with a carriage return and I have an extra CR after the frame to keep some distance between the frame boundary and the following text.

Your work-around works well. I position the cursor after the frame, type a space character. The text re-flows and the empty space is gone. Then I can remove the blank and the text remains in place. It is an improvement over my work-around of saving, closing and reopening the document, That takes much more time!

Thanks
