Description Unknown 2003-03-05 08:08:43 UTC
Request for enhancement:
In the listbox dialog, under the Data tab, is it possible to allow more than one
field to be selected as the data field.

Background:
For reasons known only to the designer of my inventory(dbase)database, the key
field is broken into two parts. Field lengths are 4 characters and 5 characters
respectively. I could reformat the dbf and concatenate the fields (and in all
the related tables), but then I would not be able to run the original
application in parallel while migrating.

I am making the request on the assumption that it is fairly common practise for
dbase designers to have a primary and secondary key field. Since my experience
with database is quite limited, this may be flawed.

Keep up the good work on this monumental task!

reassign to bh@openoffice.org, because she is responcible for
enhancements.

Hello Frank, this enhancement does not fit to currently existing PCDs (directly
or indirectly). Perhaps we can find a solution for OO.o later? Please take this
issue to your ownership. Thank you.

change subcomponent to 'none'
Comment 4 Frank Schönheit 2004-02-05 08:11:27 UTC
I am uncertain whether it makes sense to solve this problem in the list box, or
whether it normally should be solved in the underlying data (e.g. by basing the
form on a query (instead of the table) which concatenates the strings. Ignoring
for the moment that this is currently not possible with OOo's dBase implementation).

In any way, it would not be possible for 2.0, since it would require extensive
changes to the current list box im plementations, so I am targeting this for
"OOo Later".

However, I do not close/reject it, since, as said, I am undecided about the
reasonability of this RFE, and do not want to completely lose it.
