Description Richard 2012-09-16 22:23:15 UTC
All components of Open Office ver 3.4.1 crash immediately or within 15 seconds of opening any document. Having used Open Office for several years under Windows XP, I have never had this problem before. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a new Dell XPS8300 core i7, 12GB mem, 64 bit operating system. I have many files in both word processing and spreadsheets, none of which will now stay open without crashing. I have deleted and reloaded Open Office, but the problem continues. Open Office is now essentially unusable.

I have the same Problem, Windows 64 Bit.
Deleting the the Users Folder did not solve the problem, also disabling autoupdate ist not the solution!

Please follow Regina's advice, in comment 1

http://www.openoffice.org/development/releases/3.4.1.html#AOO3.4.1ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues

Apache OpenOffice 3.4.0 and 3.4.1 manage the user profile differently than previous versions. The old user profile is automatically converted so that users can keep their extensions and settings. In a minority of cases, especially with highly customized profiles (many extensions or customizations) the conversion doesn't succeed. Common symptoms are: frequent application crashes, problems with dictionaries or thesaurus, OpenOffice starting and crashing after a few seconds. To solve this, just reset/rename your user profile as explained in the official OpenOffice forum. http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12426
