Description Marco Poutré 2013-07-30 18:57:33 UTC
When you edit a chart's data, you can only select one cell at a time. Thus, if you want to duplicate a row of data for instance, you need to retype the numbers one by one or copy/paste cells one by one.

Please explain how to select a cell when in edit chart mode.

You're right, you can't quite select a cell but rather a cell's contents. And this is at the heart of the problem, if you want to duplicate a full row or column of data, you have to do it cell by cell.

Powerpoint provides an "Excel-like" interface when you edit a chart so you can freely select multiple cells to copy/paste them.

I see what you mean, Chart Data Table window is indeed limited to one cell at a time.
Calc should be the environment to edit chart.

I'm not asking for trigonometry functions to be available in Impress but I think some basic Copy/Paste features would help to "self-contain" a basic chart in Impress instead of having to resort to Calc.

Am I correct that this behavior is reproducible in former versions as well?
If yes, please adjust the field Version accordingly.

I am also not sure, if this is a defect or a request for enhancement. AOO is not a clone of Microsoft Office. Thus, a missing functionality which is available in Microsoft Office is not automatically a defect in AOO.

I'm not too familiar with Bugzillas so not sure if these questions are aimed at me or at other developers so here's my input. I can only select a single version in the drop-list but I know the problem was present in the 3.4.1 build. And you're right in that it's an enhancement request although I consider copy/paste as a pretty basic feature nowadays.
