Description Jon Peli Oleaga 2013-09-20 21:51:04 UTC
Created attachment 81591 [details]
a copy of the screen with the opened window

When trying to print in the basque versions of CALC and WRITER (but not of IMPRESS) the opened window is too large.

It extends further than the right margin of the screen.

The same problem existed on the 3.4 version.

For Writer, the Pootle location seems to be

File: sw/source/ui/config.po
Locations: optdlg.src#STR_PRINTOPTUI.18.itemlist.text

> The same problem existed on the 3.4 version.

For 3.4:
http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/more/aoo-AOO34/extras/l10n/source/eu/localize.sdf?q=%22Aukera+hau+gaitzen%22&path=extras%2Fl10n%2Fsource%2Feu

For 4.0.1:
http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/more/aoo-trunk/extras/l10n/source/eu/localize.sdf?q=%22itemlist+STR_PRINTOPTUI+18%22&path=extras%2Fl10n%2Fsource%2Feu

---------------------------------

Pootle location:

File: sw/source/ui/config.po
Locations: optdlg.src#STR_PRINTOPTUI.18.itemlist.text
en-US: ~Comments
eu: Aukera hau gaitzen bada, automatikoki txertatutako orrialde zuriak inprimatu egingo dira. Orriaren bi aldeetan inprimatzean izan ohi da aukera hau erabilgarri. Adibidez, liburu batean, "kapitulua" paragrafoaren estiloa beti hasten da orrialde bakoitian. Aurreko kapitulua orrialde bakoiti batean amaitzen bada, %PRODUCTNAME(e)k bikoitia den orrialde huts bat txertatuko du. Aukera honek orrialde bikoiti horiek inprimatuko diren edo ez zehazten du.

Note that there are other strings that need to be reviewed, for example:

File: sw/source/ui/config.po
Locations: optdlg.src#STR_PRINTOPTUI.20.itemlist.text
en-US: All pages
eu: Hainbat erretilu dituzten inprimagailuetan, aukera honek erabiliko den paperaren erretilua sistemako inprimagailuaren ezarpenak zehaztutakoa den edo ez zehazten du.

---------------------------------

The vcl::PrintDialog using dynamic layouting (vcl/inc/vcl/arrange.hxx), so it resizes itself according to the length of its labels text.

Confirming.
Requesting release blocker flag.
Comment 2 Ariel Constenla-Haile 2013-09-21 00:03:46 UTC
@Jon: if you have access to Pootle, you can start fixing the strings there:

https://translate.apache.org/eu/aoo40/translate.html#unit=14150053
https://translate.apache.org/eu/aoo40/translate.html#unit=14150055

This is the one from your screenshot, and another I've found. They are from Writer. The strings might be different in Calc, so please attach an screenshot from Calc's Print dialog so that I can locate the strings in Pootle.
Comment 3 Ariel Constenla-Haile 2013-09-21 00:57:38 UTC
The Calc string seems to be

https://translate.apache.org/eu/aoo40/translate.html#unit=14141764

File: sc/source/ui/src.po
Locations: scstring.src#SCSTR_PRINT_OPTIONS.6.itemlist.text
en-US: Selected cells
eu: Aktibatzen bada, hautatutako orrietako edukia soilik inprimatuko da, nahiz eta barruti zabalagoa zehazten baduzu Formatua - Inprimatze-areak elkarrizketa-koadroan. Hautatu gabe dauden orrietako edukia ez da inprimatuko.
Comment 4 Rainer Bielefeld 2013-09-21 08:30:06 UTC
I modify Version due to original report.

a) It seems that some pointers direct to wrong texts?
a1) In reporter#s screenshot at the bottom I see Area heading "Kolorea", what
means "Colors", but should be "Print"
a2) The translated comment (I would have expected a dropdown selector how to
print comments) is "If this option is enabled, automatically inserted
blank pages will be printed. Printing on both sides of the page, this
    option is usually available.
For example, (in a book, "Chapter" style each paragraph begins with the odd
pages.)" (Text in brackets completed from <http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/xref/aoo-AOO34/extras/l10n/source/eu/localize.sdf#7087>)
This looks like text for Help or extended Tooltip, But why does it
    appear there in the dialog?

So I think it's nothig to be fixed in Pootle, but the text pointers n the dialog (and may be more) are wrong.

Dialogues in AOO have numeric identifiers, which are unique and language independent. These identifiers are used to read the respective localized resource. There is nothing wrong in the dialogue (well, the algorithm could take care of note resizing the dialogue when the labels are so wide).

This has to be fixed directly on Pootle; as you noted, all strings should be checked because they seem messed up.
Comment 6 jsc 2013-09-21 09:05:46 UTC
it looks that there are more strings not correct. I suggest to test it carefully, fix the problems and we release Basque with the next language update.

But it depends on the Basque community, what they prefer.

But in general I am asking why this problem pops up so late and if is was already in 3.4. We had several snapshot builds and a RC available since more than 1 week.
Comment 7 jsc 2013-09-21 09:15:20 UTC
a further one that is wrong

https://translate.apache.org/eu/aoo40/translate.html#unit=14141761

Again I suggest that some native speaker review the whole print dialog ...
Comment 8 Andrea Pescetti 2013-09-21 10:35:26 UTC
This is another occurrence of the problem described here:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122163
and here on the l10n list:
http://markmail.org/message/6v2ekfshzptpifwx
(where I explicitly mentioned Norwegian nb and Basque eu).

Comment 10 Jon Peli Oleaga 2013-09-21 14:33:07 UTC
I'll try to correct the misplaced translations but the problem is than when working whith pootle I do not know what I am changing and that I am not able to localize, for instance, the print dialog.

I'll start from the addresses some of you have already localized and I'll try to correct the wording on near addresses.

But, could it be possible to know what is the origin of the misplacement and, accordingly, what are all the misplaced paragraphs?

In some of the localized addresses it is necessary to change a long sentence by a few words but perhaps in other places a few words must be replaced by those long sentences. So I must keep all of them.

If the problem only affects to the print dialog, I think that it is not necessary to hold the release of the new version, but if not perhaps it will be necessary to hold it because I think that nowadays I am the only person who is translating to basque and I am not very used to work with the available tools..

Only for the sake of completeness: The items in the dropdown do the correct property selection for 'Printing of Comments', only the texts are wrong.

Examined and modified, if necessary, all the items from the links on the previous comments.
