1. File - New - Presentation
2. Switch to Blank Slide layout
3. Draw a shape
4. Right click on shape - Custom Animation... - Add.. - select Entrance - OK
5. Copy shape
6. Insert - Slide - Paste

Shape is pasted with no animation.

I reproduced the described behavior on Windows 7 64bit in OOo 3.2.0, AOO 3.4.0, AOO 4.0.0 and AOO 4.0.1

ALG: As described. Checked all (well, many ;-)) possible ways of copy/paste or D&D, all loose the animation. The only way I could get it to a 2nd slide was to save the file, and use insert/File... and insert the whole slide as 2nd slide. Confirming.
