Mockup with suggestions

The Problem:
With collapsed Options area it's impossible to know whether one of the options is active or not. For example "Find and Replace" Dialog: May be your last search was for "selected only", but now you want to find a sting in all document contents, to be sure that no limitations (or unwanted generalizations) are active you will have to expand the Options area every time you want to use 'Find & Replace'

The Solution:
There should be a text field with a hint or a color changing text in the More Options' button if at least 1 of the additional options has been checked.

Please see Mockup

Any advice from accessibility point of view?
Comment 2 Edwin Sharp 2013-11-05 09:22:08 UTC
In this case, the best solution IMHO will be window rearrangement where all elements are visible with no collapsed part, i.e. just expanded window.

hint can be overlooked.

(In reply to Edwin Sharp from comment #2)
no possibility to collapse might be irksome, but may be that dialog opens by default with expanded options area, even if user collapsed before closing?
Comment 4 Edwin Sharp 2013-11-05 09:53:20 UTC
I suggest no collapse / expand of window.
Window always opens with all information visible to user.
