Evolution>=2.0 was released in 2004. It uses a address book format that is supported by the evoab2 driver. The old format of Evolution<=1.x was supported indirectly via the evoab driver that depended on the OOo's seamonkey address book integration. Platforms where the pre-2004 Evolution app runs are way below the baseline of AOO so the evoab driver can be dropped.
