Description dsikioa 2013-12-02 08:13:30 UTC
Just installed AOO 4.0.1. for Linux (RHEL 6.4 64-bit). Computer is Lenovo W530 with 4-core i7, 16GB RAM and plenty of free disk space. I have xlsx-file sized 2.7MB, containing 4 sheets of data and one containing column graphs about data on the other sheets. Biggest sheet has 14000+ lines and 7 columns, others have less lines. With Excel viewer on KVM Windows 7 at the same machine it takes some 2-3 seconds to open that file but AOO 4.0.1 takes 15 minutes and Lotus Symphony 3.0.1 whopping 30 minutes.

Following formulas used:
Column A: text like "start" or "stop"
Column B: Date, like 10/19/2013
Column C: Time, like 02:07:57.95
Column D: sum column B and C like "=B828+C828"
Column E: Mostly nothing, for commenting
Column F: =TEXT(D828;"p.k t:mm")
Column G: =ROUND((D829-D828)*$E$1;1)

AutoFilter is ON

Graph type Column, left one from the selection
Graphs data series like $Sheet1'.$F$1:$G$13954
Data series in columns
First row as label selected
First column as label selected

When I save this file to ODS format, size is 1.2MB and opening that file takes less than 5 minutes.

Created attachment 82033 [details]
ods version

Original xlsx file is too big, so attached is the ods version, which still takes almost 5 minutes to open. If the xlsx version is required, we need to figure out some other way to deploy it, like dropbox

Thank you.

5 minutes 28 seconds to open attachment.

Currently we only have confirmed problems concerning performance problems to open an .ods. Because this also seems to be a real problem I hijack the report for this problem

(a) Version has been modified erroneous,
(b) Opening time results (All: on WIN 7)
(b1) OOo 2.0.2: 40s
(b2) OOo 3.1.1 200s
(b3) OOo 3.3.0 150s
(b4) AOo 3.4.1 160s
(b5) AOO 4.1.0 RC3 200s
(b6) LibO 4.2 80s
(b7) Gnumeric 1.12.9 7s !
So it seems that Problem appeared with 3.1.1 or more early

(c) Currently we do not know what in the document causes the problems. Amount of data? Formulas? Charts?
Please send your document to me by email, I will submit a separate bug report for .xlsx related problems (if they do exist).
