Test docx file

Build: AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1557518

Steps:
1. Open the test document FFCMS2007FFCSW_Comment_numbering0000.docx in AOO
2. Export it as PDF
3. Check highlight of commented/annotated text range in exported pdf file

Problem: the highlight gets lost (please compare screenshot FFCMS2007FFCSW_Comment_numbering0000_AOOPDF.jpg with screenshot FFCMS2007FFCSW_Comment_numbering0000_MSPDF.jpg)

Comment 4 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2014-01-15 14:10:10 UTC
As far as I can see Microsoft Word 2007 just exports the UI presentation of a comment/annotation to PDF, but not the comment/annotation as a PDF structure - no entries in Acrobat Reader's "Comments List" are shown. Two UI presentations are possible in Microsoft Word 2007 - 'inline' as given sample screenshot from fanyuzhen or as 'ballon' in the extended right page margin.

OpenOffice exports a comment/annotation as a PDF structure element "Sticky Note". I am not sure, if a "Sticky Note" can be applied to a text range.
I am recognizing that in Acrobat Reader the user can insert "Highlight Text", which highlight a certain text range and the user can give a comment. Both, "Sticky Note" and "Highlight Text" elements are shown in the Acrobat Reader's "Comments List"

May be it makes sense to export comments/annotations on text ranges as "Highlight Text" to PDF. I would not prefer an PDF export as in Microsoft Word.
Somebody needs to find out, how "Highlight Text" in the PDF file format has to be generated.

Agreed. The way in MS PDF is not preferred. But I think "Highlight Text" is better than "Sticky Note". Should we change this defect type to enhancement?

I agree with comment 4 and comment 5, I have just changed the Issue Type to Enhancement.
