Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124173
underlining if too long when a non secable minus is used in text
Last modified: 2014-02-17 12:12:05 UTC
Created attachment 82481 [details] example document Hello, I need to use non secable minus in a document. But when i underline the text using this special character, i obtain a too long underlining (It should be as long a if i used a simple minus). You can see it on the document joined (sheet 'lots', text 'au sous-sol :'). If you change the minus between 'sous' and 'sol', the underlining becomes ok. I use non secables chars to avoid cuts in some texts. Thanks
Confirmed with AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1562493 Rev.1562493 Win 7
Hm, Attached document does not contain Text "au sous-sol" in sheet "lots", the only hit for that string is in sheet "PC". May be that one is the interesting one? I still have some additional questions: (a) I can't see anything unexpected with in "au sous-sol" in sheet "PC" with "AOO 4.0.1 – German UI / German locale [Rev. 1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4.0 User Profile used for all predecessor versions (please see attached screenshot!). What does "too long" mean? Exceeding at beginning of wort? Exceeding at end? Or where else? (b) I can't imagine what a "non secable minus" might be. Please explain! (c) If the problem really starts with 4.0.1 this would be a regression, if the problem is not related to a new feature. Is the problem related to a new feature or is it a regression? (d) If problem already started more early, do we know with what version? (e) Is the problem really limited to Calc or also reproducible with other AOO applications? (f) With all fonts or only Arial?
Created attachment 82483 [details] Screenshot - Everything seemsOK? b): Are we talking about Non-breaking hyphen ? <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-breaking_hyphen#Unicode> @reporter: Can you please create a sample document only containing a cell with "non secable minus" and a second cell with same string, only difference "simple minus" - and a screenshot showing as it looks for you

Hello, I can't tell you when it appears because i just tried to use non breakable hyphens to solve a problem of unwanted cuts in some texts, so my macro replace minus by non breakable hyphens. The behaviour appears only when texts are underlined. As i can see, it concerns calc and presentation but not writer. I added some attachments. The cells in sheet 'lots' at B18 should look like the cell in sheet 'pc' at C31. I tried other fonts and the underlining is too long for all fonts. When replacing the non breakable hyphen by a minus, underlining seems ok. I use a french version of AOO. So i can't tell if the problems occurs on other languages. Thanks
