OO message upon opening program

This as been happening since I installed Mavericks. I open a document and receive this message:
"The last time you opened OpenOffice, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?
If you choose not to reopen windows, you may have to open and position the windows yourself."

There are two buttons underneath - "Don't Reopen", and "Open". Neither of them work. The document does eventually open (not as a result of using the "Open" button), but I can't copy, paste, or save any edits. I cannot close that message window, and I can close the document (without saving anything) but I have to force quit Open Office. I have tried restarting, repairing permissions. I see two .plist files for Open Office but not sure I should trash those. I have also tried just opening the application, and opening the document from there, but get the same message. Basically, I can no longer work in OO.

DUP of "Bug 123681 - Unresponsive warning window, program can not export to rescue data, only force quit will close "
