Sample Document

Steps how to reproduce with "AOO 4.1.0 RC3 – English UI / German locale [AOO410m17(Build:9763)) - Rev. 1586584 2014-04-11 08:56:50]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4. User Profile used for all predecessor versions:

1. Open sample document
2. Click A1 -> <shift+click> A10
    > Range selected
3. Menu 'Edit -> Fill -> Down'
   As expected cell contents "Filter" appears in A2:A10
   Unexpectedly also Filter dropdown and filter function will be copied

Additional Info:
----------------
(a) To copy the filter function by 'Fill' is useful for horizontal fill
    actions, but not for vertical filter options
(b) Minor one, I can't imagine any useful fill down operation where a user
    wants to fill with filter heading contents. But nevertheless a bug
    (copy / paste does not paste the filter dropdown function, what is
    a correct handling).

    cause duplication of arrow box "

Not a new issue, already reproducible with OOo 1.1.5

Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld 2014-04-29 06:42:13 UTC
As per (c) and own tests also reproducible with LibO 3.5.7.2 on Ubuntu 12, so probably also an AOO Linux problem

Excuse me Rainer, I try to follow the rules in https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Issue_lifecycle
"If no answer after fourteen days, set the field status to RESOLVED and the reason to IRREPRODUCIBLE."

So now we wait for...? when bugs are constantly flowing in, it is just human nature this bug will be forgotten and before you know it we have a backlog of thousands of unconfirmed bugs!

Can confirm the fill behavior.

Assume then that applying the Data -> Filter -> Autofilter action defaults to a range of the contents of the entire column of data--and that it should probably not be a pasteable or fillable attribute for any but the first cell value of that column where it is now shown by default.

The Data -> Filter -> Standard filter has a "More options" check-box asking if the selected range contains "column lables", so the concept of isolating the first row of a column to serve as its label already is in place. So would follow that the behavior of the Autofilter role when activated should simply be confined to just that first row, and should be a attribute that can NOT be duplicated into more than one cell in a column.

Actually, in testing this on Windows--I do see some utility in "displaying" the Autofilter dropdown in more than one row.

Think of a several thousand row sheet--selecting every 50 rows and displaying the Autofilter would be useful to manipulate data display.

But, I can not envision it ever being useful with every row filled with the Autofilter dropdown. Filling with the Autofilter attribute would be nonsense.

p.s.
was testing on Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit with
