Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124732
background missing
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:59:48 UTC
Created attachment 83258 [details] screenshots Hello all, when creating a drawing and then exporting to JPEG or BMP, the chosen background (marble) is missing. Only a white page is exported. Creating a PDF is ok, TIFF also but with a resolution-problem. Do you have any idea what to do? Its not always so. Sometime it works and I have no idea what to do. regards Juergen Keller
Can you add the draw file? If not, please describe how you add the marble to the document (as page fill, as object, ...)
Background export OK AOO420m1(Build:9800) - Rev. 1586681 2014-04-15_04:11:11 - Rev. 1587398 Debian
I would have done but its nearly 4M and therefore not allowed.
Please email
done to "elish@apache.org". I hope it helps you

Comment 2 still valid with author document
hm .... just for information. I called the drawing again and tried to export it ... without success - background is still missing. Then I deleted the background and added it new and then the new export was ok. Very strange.
Irreproducible per comment 11 Please reopen bug if you can provide exact steps to reproduce the faulty export.
Hello Edwin, I did not say that its irreproducible. It sometimes works and sometimes not. I tried it again yesterday evening and it did not work again. So what do I do? 1. open the drawing 2. export as JPEG 3. 600DPI and a size of 21cm x 29,7cm I've send you the drawing earlier. If you do the same, what happens on your side? Does it always work as expected? The environment is Win7 pro 64bit, OO4.0.1, Lenovo Notebook R61i with 3GB. regards Juergen Keller
1. File - Export... - File format:JPEG - Export... 2. JPG Options - Resolution has no DPI, so I convert online to 236 pixels/cm - Width:21cm - Height:29.7cm - OK Background OK. Can you think on other action since comment 11 that may have triggered the bug?

during the tests I just opened the drawing and exported it without any change. I did the same just in this moment and the background is missing in JPEG.
Loaded Diplom.odg, no object selected, file export -> jpeg, dialog just ok, works well. Jpeg Diplom.jpg looks as expected. File size is 191 KB (196.054 bytes). Background is exported as intended. Checked on Win7 with office version AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1583418 2014-03-31 13:09:56 (Mon, 31 Mar 2014) My current working trunk version. Also checked with AOO410m16(Build:9762) - Rev. 1585426 2014-04-07 10:29:13 (Mo, 07 Apr 2014) which is the AOO410 RC3. Cannot reproduce, sorry. Which version did you use on which OS?
Hello Armin, it looks like we are doing quite different things. I have a drawing with a lot of pictures included. The size of the drawing is 3,78 MB (3.973.641 Bytes). It look line all pictures are included in the drawing-source because of the size and because there is no concatenation in the menues. The export to JPEG with 600 Pixels/cm and a size of 21x29cm (as explained earlier). The exported filesize is 5,67 MB (5.953.319 Bytes) and not 191Kb as in your test. So we are doing quite different things. I've send the last version of the drawing and the export to the BUGZILLA-emal-address. If you want your own version please let me know and I will send it to you also. And I use: AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev. 1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29 (Fr, 20 Sep 2013) Win7 pro No idea what happens .. it just happens :-( regards Juergen Keller
Following settings in comment 15, background is exported. Resulting jpg file is 11.1 MB and not 5.67 MB. AOO410m18(Build:9764) - Rev. 1589052 2014-04-22 12:11 - Linux x86_64 Debian
Hello Edwin, maybe your size of the drawing is bigger because the background is not missing. I'm using Win7 and you use Linux. But I remember that I had this problem in the past with OO3.3 and above with WinXP. I have no idea what's causing this problem and how to get more infos. Its just not working as expected .. unfortunately sometimes it works and sometimes not. regards Juergen Keller
Dear Juergen Unfortunately, from time to time we encounter such unexplained and frustrating bugs. But as long as the bug is not identified and reproduced, an issue can not be confirmed. Furthermore, an issue can not be left in unconfirmed status. see: https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Issue_lifecycle
Hi viaregia, used now the settings given in OO Export.doc on win7, I get an export error. This is probably due to the win version being a 32bit app and being not able to prepare the needed destinatin bitmap in the size resulting from the choosen settings. Which linux versions are used for the examples? 32 or 64 bit? It may do something in 64bit, but due to the massive amout of memory problems may be involved.
My linux: Linux pc 3.12-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.12.17-0tanglu1 (2014-04-16) x86_64 GNU/Linux Due to dots per inch - pixels/cm - pixel/inches confusion, I haven't checked the 600 pixel/inches case in Win 7 (also 64bit).
Using 300dpi on win64 works and creates a file with 2484x3513 pixels, this is in memory (24bit) more than 26mb; 400dpi works, too. 450dpi does not work, there is probably the mem limit reached. The error shown (graphic filter not shown) could be more clear, but AOO catches the problem and handles it not bad (no crash). I will check with a 64bit (linux) version...
Checked on xubuntu 64bit using the RC4 and 600 dpi, thsi works well and I have no missing background.
Hello Edwin, hello Armin, I use Win7 pro, 64Bit, Core2, 3Gb storage, SSD harddrive. When I doubleklick on the drawing, OO-Draw is started but it takes a (long) while until you can see the complete drawing. Then export to JPEG with 600 dpi (which is the maximum). Maybe it depends on the PC (hardware), operating-system, storage etc. ... no idea. I will try to find someone else with an OO-installation and try it there to see the difference. Nevertheless I've created a circumvention: opened an empty drawing, select background only, export this to JPEG (which works) and import this picture as background in the drawing. This works fine but is much slower due to a now very complex drawing. regards Juergen Keller
No problem with settings of attachment 83279 [details] AOO410m18(Build:9764) - Rev. 1589052 2014-04-22 11:43:54 (Di, 22 Apr 2014) Win 7 AMD A6 1.5GHz 4GB Radeon HD 6520G
