Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124746
Replace "Title" by "Name" for file names
Last modified: 2014-04-28 04:42:45 UTC
Currently there is a confusing parallel use of "Name" and "Title". I am not a native English speaker, so my assessment might be wrong, but I think "name" or "file name" is much more meaningful and less misleading than "Title Some Details of the confusion: (a) New Documents (without a "real" name have the name "Untitled", so "title" seems to be the same a "name" (without extension, what matches with c2) (b) The AOO File dialog lists the file names in a category column "Title", (with full name, what does not match with C2) but the input line for that thingy is "file name" (c1) Into a writer documents you can insert a field "Title", what will show the Title from menu 'File -> Properties -> Description (Tab)- Title', and a different field "Document - File Name" (c2) But in Calc -> Format -> Page -> Sheeat Header [Edit]' you will find an Icon with Tooltip "Title" what will insert the file name without filename extension with item 'Title' (d) With German UI the AOO file dialog shows a column "Title" for file names, the OS file dialog shows "Name" And so on. We simply should use term "name" where we talk about a (document) name
(a) I think there is a request for changing "Untitled 1" to "Text Document 1", "Spreadsheet 1" etc., can't find it (b)True - should be Name (c)True - Calc should insert title from File - Properties... AOO410m18(Build:9764) - Rev. 1589052 2014-04-22 12:11 - Linux x86_64 Debian

Probably, and because it is resolved I couldn't find it. I can't think of a program with "Unnamed 1" and to avoid confusion maybe reopen issue 26481.
