Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124880
Draw fails to recognize alpha layer (transparency) of .tiff
Last modified: 2014-06-24 14:45:31 UTC
Draw does not seem to be able to import the alpha layer of a .tiff. The background appears as an off-grey color. Unable to change the fill through picture fill properties. Picture inserted using Inset -> Picture -> From File...
To expand on this... I'm using 4.0.1 on Windows. Today I tried libre office on a different computer and it worked just fine.
Please attach a sample document with a .tiff that easy shows the described behaviour.

Can confirm that the transparency of a .tiff is not respected. Same bitmap as .png makes no problem.
Adding Herbert to CC. Herbert, do you know more about the tiff filter?
Excerpt from Tiff Wikipedia page : 'Very few applications correctly process TIFF files with alpha channels'. Interesting...
@hanson.alex: The link in comment 3 is dead, could you please add the TIFF in question directly as attachment please?
