Description jhansonxi 2003-03-20 19:52:33 UTC
When a column width is changed in the table view it is reset if a different
table or query is viewed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a query with data longer than the column title (data should get cut
off when the query is viewed in the DSB).

2. Change the column width manually or by double-clicking the title to set the
optimum width to match the data.

3. Click on a table or different query to change the view.

4. Click back on the original query.

5. On my system, the column reverts back to it's original width.

Hi,

I can't reproduce this behaviour.
Does this happend with all datasource or only with one?
Does this also happend with a new fresh OOo installtion?

Please provide more information to reproduce this issue?

Bye Marc

I performed more testing of this issue. I can now reproduce it with a
clean data source setup. It appears to be a secondary symptom of
another problem.

The source of the problem is that the DA query tool doesn't like my
SQL syntax. When I hand-code a SQL query and paste it into the query
editor, it saves it without complaint. When I attempt to switch to
Design View (graphical), it reports "Error while connecting to the
data source - Syntax error in SQL statement". It will save the query,
however, and the query works correctly in the DSB. The query also
works without error in CuteSQL and MSQRY32 (M$ Office 2002). The DSB
will not save the column sizes or positions on this query. But it
will save them for the equivalent version produced by the query
editor. I noticed that the syntax of the SQL created by the query
editor is quite different from my syntax. So I don't know if this is
a SQL compatibility problem or a DA problem.

fs->oj: can you please have a look at this?

Hi Jeff,

in a current version (beta1) I could not reproduce it. Do you executes
the statement in the query editor or later on the DSB? When you
executes it in the query editor and changes the column sizes, this
changes will get lost :-( Here we have a RFE that it will be changed
in a OOo 2.0.

Best regards,

Ocke

It loses the settings when it is shown in the DSB and when run in the
editor. If I run it in the editor after setting the column widths it
resets them back again. If I look at it in the DSB after setting the
widths, a Refresh doesn't lose the settings. But if I show a
different query from the tree and go back again, the settings are
lost. I also have upgraded to 1.0.3 which has the same problem.

Hi, before I will do my own tests, I would like to ask you, whether the reported
problem still is reproducible with 1.1.0.

Could you please test that?

Thanks,

Rainer
