Document that cause the "freeze"

On the attached document, there is in the first page a block of formatted text that was copy/pasted from LyX(1). The text have a couple of headings and a paragraph with some italics, bold and bold italics text.

When pasted, the text seems to get some "manual formatting" applied: the body text paragraph style used on the document have some space below set, but the pasted text ignores it.

If you select the whole text and press Ctrl-M, the paragraph formatting is fixed and italic, etc are lost, which is right.

But if you just put the cursor on the paragraph that have the italics, bold and bold italic text (do NOT select text, just put the cursor on that paragraph) and press Ctrl-M Writer hangs, taking 25% of my CPU: I need to send a "KILL" message to end the process.

Looks like duplicate of bug 124877
You can try a nightly build and see if this fix solves your problem too

Downloading Apache_OpenOffice_4.2.0_Linux_x86-64_install-arc_en-US_2014-07-18_04:11:24_1611536.tar.gz (it will take some time).

(64 bits Linux builds show version 4.2, while all other builds show version 4.1.1??)

Indeed, the problem is not present on the nightly builds. Closing as duplicate and sorry for the noise (my "bug search" skills are not good enough, it seems)
