.zip containing the PowerPoint 2007 .ppt file and the linked .wav file

I've hundreds of PowerPoint 2007 ppt files with external wav file linked (not embedded), I'd like to use OpenOffice instead of MS product but I'm not able to play sound during presentations.

I do following steps to test:
1. open ppt file with Windows PowerPoint 2007 Italian;
2. start presentation;
3. click one time on speaker button on the upper left corner of the first slide, I can hear the wav file played;
4. close PowerPoint, open Windows OpenOffice 4.1.0 Italian;
5. load same ppt file, start presentation;
6. click one time on speaker button on the upper left corner of the first slide, no sound;

I've attached one ppt file and one wav file, linked to the first slide of the ppt file. If you want to play with PowerPoint 2007 you have first to position the wav file in this directory:

F:\Documenti\MATERIALE FORMAZIONE 2014\lezioni prima parte\audio lez 12 nuova\

Sorry, I confirm OpenOffice is 4.1.1 version, not 4.1.0.

Can't you confirm the issue with the attachments I added to the post?

I can reproduce this bug with:

Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1
AOO411m6(Build:9775)  -  Rev. 1617669
2014-08-13 09:06:54 (Mi, 13 Aug 2014)
Windows 8.0

DISCLAIMER: the report doesn’t specify where the PPT-file is located on his harddrive, so I went and put it in the same directory as the WAV-file

1. Plug in USB drive
2. Make the drive letter match F:
3. Open cmd.exe mkdir “F:\Documenti\MATERIALE FORMAZIONE 2014\lezioni prima parte\audio lez 12 nuova\”
4. Download https://issues.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=83960 and extract it into the freshly created directory.
5. Open the PPT with Impress
6. Press F5 for presentation mode
7. Click the loudspeaker image (no sound is played)
8. Click the loudspeaker image again (presentation ends)

If I open the presentation with MS Powerpoint 2010, and have the ppt + the wav in the same directory, sound can be played as expected. I consider this a bug in Impress.

Audio and video are a long standing annoyance in presentations. Many know the feeling of working on a presentation, then trying to present on a different computer only to find out the audio/video doesn’t work. To be honest I was surprised to learn that it did work properly in 2010, even when I tried in C:\temp

Since the F:-drive could be inconvenient, I have created a new sample in C:\temp and I have attached the result as a ZIP-file.

1. Create a new empty presentation
2. Title: 125633
3. Insert Audio > Audio from File... > dia.wav (original WAV-file, renamed)
4. Save As > 125633.ppt

It seems that linked sound is not portable from PPT to Impress 4.1.1 and that would constitute a serious bug, keeping people from migrating to Impress, like the reporter already indicated.

I reproduced this issue on mac os x with version 10.8.5 (with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5) with Open Office version 4.1.1

Steps
1.	Download the attached file (.zip containing the PowerPoint 2007 .ppt file and the linked .wav file )
2.	Open the file in Open Office version 4.1.1 using File – Open and selecting the file.
3.	Click on the audio symbol
This was not treated as an audio file and you could not play it. When you clicked on it the bottom status said ‘Bitmap with transparency ‘dia 1 lez 12.wav’ selected’ rather then ‘Media object selected’ as I would have expected.

I also opened the file in Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac 2011 Version 14.4.2 (140509) and clicked on the audio symbol on the slide and the sound was played without error.

I further checked whether a presentation containing an audio file created in Impress could be reopened in Impress and opened in Powerpoint and the audio be played without issue.. See attachment.
Steps
1.	Download attachment (keep the ppt and .wav file collocated)
2.	Open .ppt attachment in Impress
3.	Click on the audio symbol - The sound plays without issue.
4.	Open the attachment in Microsoft Powerpoint
5.	Click on the audio symbol - The sound plays without issue.

All versions of tools were English UK versions

This issue seems to be similar to issue 49295 however I opened both the attachments on issue 49295 in Impress and the audio files played without issue when in slideshow mode.
