Description magrawal 2003-03-21 20:26:23 UTC
This is related to StarOffice 6.1. The save to pdf feature is great.

However, in Impress, the only printing option to pdf is one slide per page.

I think the best would be a wysiwyg save to pdf feature - if the user selects
handout view and clicks save-to-pdf, the process should create a pdf file in
handout view. If the user selectes outline view and clicks save-to-pdf, the pdf
file should be in outline view.

Ideally, this should be combined with my eaerlier feedback about more handout
options. This way, the user will be able to select the handout option, see how
it looks on the screen and print it out or save it as pdf.

But isn't it just a matter of printing whith the proper PDF printer?
Comment 4 magrawal 2004-02-06 21:34:58 UTC
Actually no. I am attaching 2 files, a sxi file and a pdf file created using the
save to PDF feature while the file was in Handout view. The pdf file has just
one slide per page. I am asking for more control in the formatting of the pdf
output. For example, the 3-page view is very popular in Powerpoint. How about
the ability to select a view in Impress and have the save to pdf view create a
pdf file with that view.
Selecting the right pdf printer requires the selection of an appropriate printer
in the OS or Acrobat installed. This is a hurdle for most users.

this is a verry annoying issue: at my university (and i guess at much
educational institutions) students get a pdf copie off the handouts off the
lessons via the intranet so it would be really wonderfull if OOo also could
pdfversions of the handouts:-)

a workaround is to use a "PDF-printer" using either ghostscript or some other
tools (like extendedPDF) to convert to PDF.
