Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 125891
using the arrow keys to move the cursor in a formula distorts the inline formula text
Last modified: 2014-12-02 16:42:49 UTC
Created attachment 84227 [details] AOO bug - distorted formula when using arrow keys to move cursor Using the arrow keys to move the cursor in a formula often distorts the inline formula text. See attached screenshot for demonstration (it is difficult to take screenshots without the window being refreshed and the problem going away). To replicate; 1. enter this formula into B1: "=IF(A1=0;1;0)" (don't copy and paste it) 2. press enter to create it 3. double click the formula to edit it 4. move cursor within cell with left and right arrow keys 5. note every time the cursor is moved to the next character a new static cursor remnant is created (|). If the file is saved and reopened, the issue may not replicate in B1 until at least one formula in the spreadsheet has been temporarily selected for edited (eg C1).
Confirmed with AOO 4.1.1 and Windows system. Some artefact displays in formula editing.
*** Issue 125915 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Workaround: In Tools > Options > OpenOffice > View Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration" in Graphic output option
With AOO 3.4.0, we have same bad display but with less artifact. Also, this issue seems to have increased with 4.1.x.
(In reply to oooforum from comment #3) > Workaround: > In Tools > Options > OpenOffice > View > Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration" in Graphic output option In OO 4.1.1 on MacOS X, the option for using hardware acceleration is unchecked and grayed out. So, this is not a fix here. In issue 125915, I reported a similar problem, but caused by difference circumstances as this bug, and report was closed as a duplicate of this issue. So, at a minimum, this is not a workaround on a Mac, and potentially 125915 is a different bug altogether.
(In reply to Jon R Kibler from comment #5) > So, at a minimum, this is not a workaround on a Mac Well, another workaround may be a downgrade to a previous version.
