Notes on how to add appendix styles to a docment.

This feature request is a follow up for issue 2) raised in the last post to this thread:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=88728&p=417468#p417468

When a custom paragraph style is applied to a line of text, text should be given the same hierarchy level the style has in its "Outline & Numbering" tab in the Paragraph Style editor. It is time consuming to use the "Up One Level" and "Down On Level" menu items in the pop up menu that appears when the text the style has been applied to is right clicked.

To see an example of what I am talking about go the the last line of the attached file, which is "Next Example Appendix Level 5". To this line apply style "Appendix 5". The text starts at level 1 not level 5, in spite of outline level 5 having been selected in that style's "Outline & Numbering" tab.

There is only one special numbering for outlines (chapter headings) which you can define under Tools → Outline Numbering…, Numbering: Paragraph Style. For the assigned styles you will see, that they are assigned to a special »Numbering Style« named “Outline Numbering” and to the selected »Outline level« – and it cannot be changed. Only theses styles are linking directly to a specific level.

If you select an »Outline level« for other styles, you only define, that paragraphs with this style will be noticed by an created index. This can also be set to every paragraph independent from a style.

So there may be a documentation issue.

With an »Conditional Style« every numbering level can have the right style.

Example:
1. Styles an Formatting → New…
2. Tab »Organiser«: Name: “MyAppendix”
3. Tab »Condition«:
1st Numbering Level → Appendix 1 [Apply]
2nd Numbering Level → Appendix 2 [Apply]
[…]
10th Numbering Level → Appendix 10 [Apply]
4. [OK]

Highlight the Appendix in the text and delete all text formatting (paragraph style “Default”, Format → Default Formatting (Ctrl+M). Now apply the new paragraph style “MyAppendix”.
Set the cursor to the start of the line and use [Tab] and [Alt]+[Tab] to shift the appendix to the right level.

PS: You can also use the Navigator [F5] to change and arrange the outline levels.
