Description scrutinizer1 2017-08-22 13:31:18 UTC
The order of actions for the said issue to manifest:

1. Open any OpenOffice application or launch OpenOffice in any desired way.

2. Open Extension Manager

3. Close Extension Manager, leave OO running.

4. Hover the pointer over OO icon in Dock, right-click the icon, choose Extension Manager. Extension Manager's window will re-appear. Every button, every clickable element is unresponsive now with the exception of "-" yellow round button at the upper left ("minimize window"). No way other than by quitting it to close, invoke help, update or take any other action implemented through UI buttons of the EM window while OO is running.

Since attachment file size is too limited to add a screen capture of the issue, I post a YouTube link.

You mentioned Mac OS X 10.7 as operating system
I'm not sure but minimum required is 10.8

The current minimum requirements for AOO 4.1.x on Mac OS is 10.7 as documented under system requirements at https://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs_aoo41.html

OK this issue is specific to Mac OS systems.
To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset it[1] and re-test?

No news from OP since +30 days

Temporarily set as IRREPRODUCIBLE
Comment 5 scrutinizer1 2017-09-30 13:52:59 UTC
Sorry for the delay, was too busy finding time to respond. I tried your suggestion with Save Mode - still no difference.
Comment 6 scrutinizer1 2017-09-30 22:24:56 UTC
Hi,
My previous comment was something misunderstood by me since I forgot what issue to reply to - never mind.

I re-created my user profile as instructed - no difference either. I still get the Extension Manager frozen when invoked from the Doc icon. I have no files bearing the name "extensions.db" in that supporting folder "bundled".

I have the same problem. I actually switched back from LibreOffice to OpenOffice because in LO this problem actually caused my files to crash and need recovering EVERY TIME I launched LibreOffice.
Comment 8 scrutinizer1 2017-12-10 14:01:59 UTC
The bug still exists on that version.
Comment 9 Keith N. McKenna 2017-12-10 14:44:55 UTC
Given a second user has reported this also and that it appears to still be occuring in 4.1.4 should this be set as confirmed?
Comment 10 scrutinizer1 2017-12-10 14:55:35 UTC
Technically speaking, yes.
Comment 11 Keith N. McKenna 2017-12-10 15:21:37 UTC
The version field is to record the earliest version that the bug was found in and except in in rare cases should not be changed. That is what the Latest Confirmation in Field is for. The question around marking as confirmed was meant to address a point of adherence to internal project QA procedures.

I also have the same issue. The entire application freezes when the extension update button is activated, either on the toolbar, or by menu item. Only a force quit closes OO. OSX 10.13.2
Comment 13 Keith N. McKenna 2017-12-20 04:36:09 UTC
Given that two other persons have reported this problem on Max OS I am marking it as confirmed.
Comment 14 Keith N. McKenna 2018-01-02 14:54:53 UTC
As stated in an earlier comment please DO NOT change the original Version an issue was reported in without discussion. This should reflect the earliest version that the issue was reported in. The latestest confirmation in field is for tracking any later versions it occurs in.
