Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 127749
Software Rotting To Disuse
Last modified: 2018-04-09 08:42:11 UTC
The Clatskanie Library discontinued use of OpenOffice Writer as it blocked use of documents created by library patrons outside the library from being transported by thumb drive to the Library computer so we could use their expensive printer. Yesterday I too discontinued using OpenOffice because it opened up a document I was working on with every word underlined in red as mis-spelled words. Evidently the software or location of the spelling dictionary was corrupted. I removed the old version, downloaded your latest version, installed, and opened the document which showed no changes. Fortunately it's easier to switch to Libre Office than go through whatever process you have to fix your installation or perhaps it's a bad computer hardware bit that Libre Office avoids. So no need to answer but I just thought you should know a couple of errors that lost you two customers.
I do not understand the issue of your library. Your issue is a corrupted profile. The forum offers a guide that tells you how to fix it. All the best to you. I Close the ticket because this is not a technical issue but a social one. Next time write your dismayal to development@openoffice.apache.org that's our social development site. Thanks.
