Description Ariel Constenla-Haile 2019-10-17 23:02:13 UTC
It is impossible to insert (error message "The format of the selected file is not supported") or reproduce audio/video on macOS Catalina.

Tested with 4.1.3 and 4.1.7, so this isn't a regression on the latest release.

AOO 4.1.7 can play audio/video on macOS 10.13.
I do not have macOS 10.14 to test if this is only a Catalina issue.

Did you have the same error with this video?

As per https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos_release_notes/macos_catalina_10_15_release_notes#3319804

* The previously deprecated 32-bit QuickTime framework is no longer available in macOS 10.15.

* The symbols for QTKit, which relied on the QuickTime framework, are still present but the classes are non-functional.

AOO current implementation in the 4.* releases relies on QTKit, so there will be no sound/video support on Catalina.

This will be solved with issue 127138
The subject of this one is more easy to find, so I leave this one opened.

Migration from Quicktime is complete for 4.1.8 and later
