Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 128318
Change Icon dialog annoyances
Last modified: 2020-03-04 14:59:27 UTC
Created attachment 86878 [details] Screenshots illustrating bugs Tools > Customize > tabpage Toolbars > Modify > Change Icon Change Icon dialog: on this dialog box, you can scroll through the available icons, select one (import one too) and assign it to the command. Neat functionality. There are however some issues about this dialog (AFAIK all in contrast to solution applied anywhere else in AOO domain): I. Scrolling To scroll through set of icons you have two buttons: scroll up and scroll down. One would expect navigation using vertical scroll bar (like in Gallery). II. Vanishing selection Once you open Change Icon dialog you will see that first icon is selected. Everything seems OK, but if move mouse into icon view area below last row of icons (for example close to the left of scroll-down button), the selection disappears. Spooky. III. Restoring current position Current position in icon view area changes if you: - switch focus to another window (be it AOO component/window or other application window) - left-click (or right-click) anywhere outside this dialog You always end up at the beginning of icon set. If you care to reproduce: 1. Open AOO component e.g. Calc 2. Tools > Customize > tabpage "Toolbars" 3. choose any toolbar 4. Modify > Change Icon 5. in Choose Icon dialog use scroll-down-button to scroll the view to the end. 6. Click the last icon 7. Click mouse anywhere outside Choose Icon dialog Observe the change in icons displayed in Choose Dialog. Welcome at the beginning! (in space and in time). Notice that first icon is marked as selected. 8. Move mouse into icon view area into scroll-down button. Selection of first icon dissapears. If you still care to reproduce you may entertain more cunning scenario: open Change Icon dialog. Select any icon (not the first one. Repeat steps 7. and 8. above. Enjoy the view (especially two icons marked as selected). (see attached file "SisypheanLabour") You might have noticed word "annoyance" in this issue's summary line. I happen to frequently use Change Icon dialog and it really annoys me. It was once wisely said at Bugzilla: "if this issue is to be fixed it necessarily means that other issues must wait to get fixed." (see Issue 116213). My issue is trivial. So I'll be waiting, full of hope, well... till the cows come home.
