Description mehlng 2003-04-10 13:43:29 UTC
when identating an RTL Hebrew prahraph, the spaces are thought for characters
and therefore causing wrong identation.
example: in the following example _ is a space and capitals are hebrew to ease
understanding I'll ident it in a very narrow column:
typing:
SHALOM_LECOL_MI_SHEROZE_LETAKEN_TAKALOT
result:

LOCEL_MOLAHS|
_EZOREHS_MI_|
     NEKATEL|
    TOLAKAT_|

should be:

LOCEL_MOLAHS|
  EZOREHS_MI|
     NEKATEL|
     TOLAKAT|

DL->HDU: Would you please takeover?
Comment 2 hdu@apache.org 2003-04-30 07:23:44 UTC
To make sure I understood the problem correctly can you attach a small
sample document? I couldn't reproduce it in SRX644m12.

Comment 4 mehlng 2003-04-30 12:55:32 UTC
I don't know whether ver. SRX644m12 has this bug or not - I used
1.1Beta and as you can see in the document I attached it's a major bug
that still there.

I didn't do anything quire to reproduce it merely typed a three/four
lines paragraph.

Thanks for solving the issue anyhow :-)

HDU->FME: Wrong linebreaking?
Comment 6 thorsten.ziehm 2003-05-21 17:01:32 UTC
=> set only to status 'new'
Comment 7 christof.pintaske 2003-05-21 17:05:41 UTC
cp->hdu: seems to be a problem with glyph substitution ! formatting
the whole text using Java's LucidaSans (the good one ;-) fixes the
problem. Switching to online mode fixes the problem as well (tested
with arabic srx645m2-2 on solaris sparc)

We will not support a full hebrew version in OOo1.1. Out of this
reason I set this task to OOo 2.0.
Comment 11 mehlng 2003-06-12 18:23:56 UTC
I suggest fixing it in OOo1.1 as this is a very major bug and could
render OOo1.1 usable in Hebrew.
BTW when is OOo2.0 out? it seems like a very long wait.
If you want donations for fixing this matter please contact me mehlng

i think hdu will have a look at this when he recovered as he is the
owner of bidi output. I think he'll probably be able to fix this in a
1.1 timeframe.

pl->hdu: welcome back
Comment 14 hdu@apache.org 2003-08-06 15:53:50 UTC
I thought this maybe related to issue 16372 and tried to recreate it using the fix
there. I wasn't able to do this but surprisingly also with older versions like beta2,
rc1, etc.

HDU->US: Please help me to confirm/reproduce the problem. The attached bugdoc
try3.sxw looked ok to me in several versions, including beta2 where the bug was
reported for, didn't show the problem.
Comment 15 sforbes 2003-08-06 17:59:38 UTC
Using the attached file and oo rc2 on win xp- after increasing the
indent, there are extrax spaces that should not be there.
I am attaching a screen shot

Thank you Shoshannah for the screenshot + explanation. I'm
now quite confident that issue 16372 and this one are duplicates.
Do you agree? The good news is that 16372 is fixed and the fix
will get into OOo 1.1.1 or SO7 product patch 1.
Comment 18 ulf.stroehler 2003-08-13 16:46:53 UTC
us->hdu: pls. set to duplicate to issue 16372, if you are sure.
