Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13737
increase files history to (max.) 10 entries
Last modified: 2004-02-12 13:47:37 UTC
Currently, only the last 4 files opened are listed in the file menu. Please allow to increase this value to a maximum of 10 (the 10th file could use the shortcut key '0').
SBA: Reassigned to Bettina from the User Experience team for consideration.
I can't think of a reason to forbid users to choose a history size of 10. Four files are too few! Furthermore this would allow for setting the history to 0, for those who want to switch it off e.g. for privacy reasons. I'd prefer the 10, however.
Why 10 as a max? I prefer (and do my own patch for) 12. It is also possible to have a "more >" option for those who really want a lot more, but in any case, I certainly prefer 12 for working with books.
> Why 10 as a max? Well, because of the 10 hotkey digits 0 - 9; letters are used language-dependently for other menu entries. Of course, a 'more' option would be nice. In a 'more' submenu, the letters could be used additionally (~1 - 1~0 for the most recent files, a - z for the next. Or the files visible in the first level could be left out [1~1 - 2~0 and so on]). But it would be a good first step to allow for 10 entries.
