Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13832
MS Word import: no wrap around a figure
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
The figure in the header of the first page has the property "no wrap" in OO but not in Word. The wrap properties of this figure are not set at all in Word and Word uses wrap around the text in that case. OO seems to go for “no wrap”. (OO 1.0.3 and 1.1beta) (Conversion2.Zip)
Created attachment 5897 [details] Word document with an example of the problem (ZIP).
Reassigned to MRU
That's not fully true. The wrapping style is also set, when you open the document in Word. There you have to open the properties for the graphic and than click on the "Advanced" button on the "Layout"-Tabpage. Then you'll see, that there's the wrapping style "Top and bottom" selected, which normally applies to OOo's wrapping style "none". I don't know why, but when in Word a graphic resides in a header, the "Top and Bottom" wrap is ignored and the text flows around a graphic. MRU->AMA: Another candidate for a compatibility option. Word ignores "no wrap" around graphics in headers, though...
Yeah, we noticed that word is doing something odd in headers and in the RC we'll always use wrap through for floating things in headers/footers.
Even we found this work-around for the OO0 1.1, I'll keep this task for OOo 2.0 if we need a compatibility flag.

One for you ;-)
OD (23.09.2003): forgot to accept ;-)
OD (23.09.2003): We are planning to introduce a compatibility flag, by which the wrapping of the content in page header/footer around objects, like writer fly frames, can be switched off, because MS Word behaves like this.

Changed issue type to enhancement, because we have to implement, that the wrapping mode of flaoting screen objects (Writer fly frames, drawing objects, ...) isn't considered by page header/footer content, but by document body content.
OD->PB (2004-03-24): Please take over responsibility.
At first, I will write a specification. This task is part of a group of tasks (i4173 + i13832 + i24135 + 108724 + 110375). The implementation will be done by Frank (fme).
PB -> FME (2004-04-20): Please take over for implementation. Thx.
Fixed in cws swtextwrap.
Checked fix in CWS swtextwrap.
