Description flexar 2003-05-04 17:55:48 UTC
I have been during the last six months trying to do that: when I insert a date,
the format by default should be: Viernes 30 mayo 2003. But it is impossible -for
me- always put 30/03/03 and I must to click in this date and change it.

I have demanded help in two lists of openoffice and the answer has been no
useful for me.

I do not know how to do it, andI think that if there is a solution is very
difficult. I would be very thankfull for an easier way to do it, or an
indication of how to do it in the manuals.

I can confirm this issue in OO 3.0 (linux).

It is a pain to:

1) Insert dates in a default, custom format
2) Change the date of an existing date

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

Hello,
I’m using Win7, OO 4.0.1.
I found two ways of changing the date format.
1.	After inserting the date (Insert -> Fields -> Date), double click the appearing date, then you should be able to edit or customize the format.
2.	If the first one does not work (sometime it doesn’t work so well), highlight the appearing date, click on Edit -> Fields, then you can edit it, too.
Hope these help.

Comment 6 differs to comment 0!

The reporter don't want to change the format of the inserted field every time!
He want to define a default date/time format that should be used if he insert a date/time field. This is impossible also in actual releases.
