Strg + F2
Functions Tab
Add Input Fields
Store as Template
Open new from this template
-> Modal Input Dialogs are shown for the Input Fields

At first sight, this is a nice feature. The problem is: It prevents API
programming, for Input Fields are the only fields that can be used to write
text to fields via API, without consuming the fields.

This feature breaks existing code, for Input Fields are the recommended
procedure to fill text into fields.

-> Please remove this feature or switch it off by default and make it
configurable on a per-document basis.

I do not quite understand your problem. You can use "show only" fields for this
purpose. Insert > Fields > Other > Variables, and "User Field" (left column).
Am I missing something?
