MS Words equation fields are lost during import. As they are intensively used by
people using a lot of math expressions in a document (like math teachers), it's
an  barrier for such people migrating from MS Word to OpenOffice Word processor

This is certainly missing. I have marked it as an enhancement, with 
some trepidation. It is a defect in the word compatibility, obviously. 
But it's also an enhancement to put it in. I have also targetted it 
for 2.0, in a fit of realism

I have marked this as a dupe of the later #14843 (rather than the 
other way round) so as not to lose the vte attached to the later 
issue. It looks as if two ppeople mrked it almost simultaneously after 
discussion on the User list.
