Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15566
date & number formatting lost on export to CSV
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:55:29 UTC
When exporting to CSV, dates are often exported as 06/01/2003 regardless of the format assigned in the spreadsheet. I often use OO spreadsheets to manipulate data from Excel going into mySQL tables. Since mySQL requires dates to be of the format YYYYMMDD, I apply this format in OO but lose it when I export to CSV, and then have to write Perl scripts to change the formatting back. If dates are actually entered or imported in the format 20030601 then the formatting sticks, but if the date is entered as 06/01/2003 or June 1, 2003 then the dates export as 06/01/2003 regardless of formatting applied to the cells. Numbers also lose their formatting; currency values export as "24" and "24.7" instead of $24.00 and $24.70 or 24.70, regardless of the formatting applied in the spreadsheet.
Hi, this is a duplicate to Issue 4925. Therefore I've set the flags. Frank *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4925 ***
