Description realitycheck 2003-06-17 17:45:51 UTC
Paragraph markers (carriage return line feed) do not seem to be
imported/interpreted correctly from an Acces MDB memo-type field into an OO
datasource field.

I set up an Access MDB file as an OO datasource. I insert a memo-type data
field from the Access MDB file into an OO document.

If the Access MDB memo-type field contains multiple lines (i.e. multiple
paragraphs ... multiple carriage return line feed), then the OO datasource
field displays those with a printable "square" to the left of each paragraph
marker.

Is this a bug? ... or is this a "carriage return line feed" vs. "line feed"
issue?

Are there any settings or options that can be used to help OO to
import/insert/interpret these paragraph markers correctly?

Thanks.

confirmed with OOo1.1.0, OOo1.1.1b and 680m23

this bug occurs with an access database file that is unicode encoded
the file will be attached

the user tested this file with the character settings UNicode UTF-8 and UTF-7 in our
Data sources dialog but this does not fix the error

i just tested it with the ADO Option with the specific file (where a character set is
not available ) and can confirm that you will see a square if you insert the
MailingAdressBlock of the database file for example a mailmerge

the data in the file is encoded like in the following example

0x00 0x4A 0x00 0x69 0x00 0x6D for
           J I m

and 0x00 0x0A 0x00 0x0D
                 CR LF

hope it works *G*

Hi Oliver,

seems to be a writer problem. The user tries to insert a memo field into a
writer document.

Best regards,

Ocke

Writer fields do not support line breaks and paragraph breaks.

target and issue type changed.

does it also happen with version 3.2 or higher?
