Steps to reproduce:

Insert Object > OLE object > Further Objects. Click Create from File. Check 
Display as Icon.

I should get an icon but a bitmap preview of the document appears instead. Is 
that an expected result?

Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1 Final , you can download it
from www.openoffice.org
many bug fixes and enhancements since your version and 1.1 Final . If
the problem still happend in 1.1 please report back

Currently OO does not support OLE objects "as icon". This has to be
implemented.

MRU->MV: This is the OO reference to BT 4935719. Please also
re-assign, when implemented. Thank you!

Hello Michael, this RFE is already existing, duplication is not needed. Please
don't submit RFEs or Enhancements directly to Development. Evaluation of RFEs /
EOUs has to be done by User Experience. This one is closed as invalid.
