Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16559
MS WORD cross references are not correctly imported
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Suppose you have a MS WORD text with three paragraphs, and a couple of cross references (in this case, in the third one) like: ----------------------------------------------------- a) This is the first paragraph. b) This is the second paragraph. c) This comes just after b) which itself is after a). ----------------------------------------------------- When this is imported into WRITE, the cross references come out wrong, and include the original *text* instead of the paragraph number. ----------------------------------------------------- a) This is the first paragraph. b) This is the second paragraph. c) This comes just after This is the second paragraph which itself is after This is the first paragraph. -----------------------------------------------------

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test it. (Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily) Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is small, but we still able to see the problem.
Not a problem of the import... Writer is just able to reference to the "paragraph number" (the numbering item). Writer's reference fields have to be enhanced for this.
Created attachment 9661 [details] sample file for described fields
Created attachment 9814 [details] A new Word 2000 file
I changed to 1.1 RC4, and now the problem is different: the reference doesn't appear at all. (See attached file.)
Enhancement for fields. Please collect...

Won't be possible to implement for OO 2.0. Target "OO later" at first.
Could be a duplicate of issue 2593?
We have come a long way... now I'm running OO version 2.4 under Linux, and the references keep coming up blank, as I previously reported in "I changed to 1.1 RC4, and now the problem is different: the reference doesn't appear at all. (See attached file.)" on 2003-09-30. Should I post a new bug report, or would this one still do? It's valid now for
As to the question by phil, the ORIGINAL behavior might have been a duplicate of the 2593 issue, but that has become moot now -- the problem has been different for the last five years now: instead of including extra text, now references come up blank.
The feature is already implemented in Writer, now the import needs to be adapted. Tracked in issue 2593. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 2593 ***
Closing duplicate.
