Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 166
OpenOffice arrows do not convert well to Powerpoint
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:35:27 UTC
The attached openoffice presentation file features some arrows. when saved as powerpoint the arrow head sizes change significantly, destroying the look and feel of the exported document. The OpenOffice file is correct.
Created attachment 31 [details] OpenOffice presentation with arrows
After PPT-export the arrowheads get too big. They should get adjusted to an appropriate arrowhead-size of one of the 9 available in Power Point.
The arrow heads are always the biggest possible after export. That will be changed. The problem of different looking arrow heads after exporting them to PowerPoint cannot be fixed, because in OpenOffice the arrow heads are allowed to be any kind of polygons that cannot always be converted to one of the nine styles PowerPoint offers.

Our current improvement in OO 1.1 beta is, that arrow heads from Micrsoft documents can be imported and exported without loss. ToDo: Creating a mapping for arrow heads which are not available within PowerPoint.

Not sure if this is exactly the same as some of the comments below, but as of stable developer's build 680_m34 some arrows/arrowheads still look wrong when imported from PPT into OOo. Look at the very first slide in the PPT attachment to issue 23884. -H
I have seen that the last entry was in April ... :( Is this issue solved in more recent build of OOo or does it still exist?
reproduced for 1.9.m118 . :(
Please close this issue. This issue is solved. I checked this issue with OpenOffice 3.0 and Excel 2003 on WinXP. The conversion was fine. No wrong arrow head sizes, no destroyed look and feel.
fixed per comment 11 can't verify with recent version, my AOO 3.4.1 won't convert the ancient .sdd
